Daisy . . . as requested!

I've had requests for more frequent posts and some pictures of Daisy.  Daisy was so cute wallowing on the carpet the other day, I just had to do a photo shoot.

 

She doesn't usually like having her picture taken.  Looking back at the few pictures I have, here she is on the bench by the windows where she looks out.

 

 

And meeting her new boyfriend, Blaze.  Blaze has grown a bunch since then, but he's not keen on posing, either.  Daisy is an indoor only cat so they have to commune through the windows.

 

 

 

 

Blaze stops by everyday to see Daisy when he comes to hunt in our yard.  Isn't that sweet?

I Love Pinerest!

I am in LOVE with Pinterest. When I'm wake up in the middle of the night, I peruse Pinterest until I get sleepy again. There are so many wonderful ideas, I've found myself copying some of them for holiday decorating.

 

 

I saw a photo of a holiday table with a cake stand used as a candle stand.  Brilliant!  However, I don't have a cake stand and have never really felt the need for one.  So off to ebay I go to find the perfect vintage cake stand for my own table.  I found this wonderful heavy glass stand that's perfect.  I love ebay, too.  Now that I have a cake stand, I might find more uses for it during the rest of the year.  And it will work really well with some of the pieces I have that were my grandmother's!

 

 

I made my table runner out of 16 count Chili Pepper Heatherfield fabric and hand hemstitched it all around.  I think it works perfectly with the cake stand.

 

 

Speaking of getting ready for Christmas (as I was) .  Daisy says . . .

 

 

"I'm ready, bring it on!"

 

Cats and Birds

One of my zebra finch pairs have two babies in the nest. They're old enough now to peak out of the nest and take an interest in the goings on in the flight cage. I finally got a picture of one of the babies peaking out while Daddy Monty keeps watch.


Yes, Monty fans from Berri Patch. He is a daddy now! He took up with Queenie, the white chick of Harry and Smyrna that was still a baby when I closed the shop.

Anyway, the first pic was yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon I found a little one out of the nest. Somehow it made it onto one of the treat plates and just wallowed there the rest of the day.


I just couldn't resist picking it up. Such a cutie!!

It was such a beautiful day, so I had the sliding glass doors upon across the back of the house. The birds chirping must have attracted the neighbor's kitten into our yard. He just sat there turning his ears this way and that! Then he was spotted by Daisy. . .

Such a beautiful, friendly, and playful kitten. His name is Blaze.

We have another beautiful day today. I'm off to dig around in the flower beds a bit. Maybe Blaze will come keep me company!

Ring Bearer Pillow and Finches

I finished the stitching part of the ring bearer pillow topper for Elizabeth's wedding. Just a few beads to add then stitch up the pillow. I used perle cottons on antique white cashel linen. This was my first real whitework piece and I had a great time stitching it. I think I'll be doing more whitework. It wasn't easy to photograph, this was the best I could get.


For all you Harry and Smyrna fans, let me tell you they're at it again! Smyrna laid 5 eggs last week and they are diligently tending them. Aren't they adorable peaking out of their nest? I hope the chicks this time are as pretty as the last ones.


Daisy enjoys watching the indoor birds more than the outdoor birds. I guess it's because she can hear them sing and chirp. She only gets to come into this room during the day when I'm home. I make her repeat after me "finches are friends, not food".

Finally some pictures!

I've been spending so much time unpacking and trying to organize the house that I haven't been blogging or posting comments on my favorite blogs. Now I feel a bit settled and can get at it again. Friends have been asking for pictures of Daisy and the new house, so I'll try to post a few each day.

My main focus has been the master suite. We completely redid the closet and redecorated the bathroom and bedroom. The closet and bathroom are very hard to photograph, but here's the bedroom. Due to the light polution in the metroplex, the sky doesn't get dark at night. It's nice to have drapes to close when we're sleeping.
