Speaking of Stitching Mistakes . . .

My mother lives in West Virginia and, when I lived in South Carolina, I would always see robins before she would.  Since they were only stopping off at my feeder on their way farther north, I would tell my mother that I had seen HER first robin of spring!

One year I decided to document the occasion by stitching up the Elizabeth's Designs freebie "First Robin of Spring" as an ornament to send to her.  That way she could enjoy her first robin long before it actually showed up.

As I was doing the ornament finishing, I noticed a mistake! Yes, I make mistakes, too, and I don't always notice them right away :)  I decided just for fun and conversation, I would send my piece just as it was and not tell my mother about the mistake.  I wanted to see how long it would take her to notice it.  I regretted that decision, however, because when she finally noticed it, she told me she had something really bad to tell me and it was so bad she had been agonizing whether to tell me or not.  Of course I couldn't let that go.  I laughed when she told me about the mistake and confessed, but I did feel badly about causing her any moments of stress!

So (drum roll, please) . . . here is my UNintentional stitching mistake.

And I'm not telling any of you what the mistake is, ha ha!

Fancy leaving the I out of the word Spring - LOL LOL! Thanks for your compliment on my Rainbow Kittens. I made two more blocks today because I realised I did have enough striped fabric left over to do them. I've stitched the faces on the first four, and if I get time tonight, I'll photograph them and post them on my blog.
